Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group Plc was formed from the merger of Sun Alliance and the Royal.
Suncorp, QIDC and Metway Bank were merged on 1 December.
1997
Tyndall Australia acquires Oceanic Capital Holdings from Financial Insurance Fund LP in January.
1998
Royal & Sun acquired the NZ life assurance and investment operation of Norwich Union.
Royal & Sun acquired Guardian Royal Exchange Plc’s NZ life business in November.
1999
Royal & Sun’s Australian subsidiary, Royal & SunAlliance Life Assurance Australia Limited, purchased Tyndall Australia from Guinness Peat Group Plc..
Suncorp-Metway Limited was announced as the new brand, launched in May, of the merged Queensland entities.
2000
New Zealand Guardian Trust Funds Management Limited (GTFM) was formed in July from the merger of the funds management arms of Guardian Trust and Royal & Sun NZ.
2002
Suncorp is the new brand of Suncorp Metway, announced on 1 July.
In November, Royal & SunAlliance announces their Australasian businesses are to be listed in 2003 via a separate company (later named "Promina Group Limited").
2003
Promina Group lists on ASX and NZX in May.
2004
Tyndall Investment Management New Zealand Limited is the rebranded name of GTFM in July.
2007
Suncorp conducts a friendly merger on 20 March with Promina Group.
2010
Nikko Asset Management acquires Tyndall Investments (Australia and New Zealand) from Suncorp Group Limited
